The Building Department handles all commercial and residential inspections for the city. Call (205) 629-0811 for an appointment to have an inspector come to the site. Office operating hours are from 8:00 am to 12 pm and 1 to 5:00 pm. Monday through Friday. All plans must be reviewed before a building permit will be issued. Before issuing a permit, a complete list of sub-contractors, their address, phone number and license number must be submitted to the Permitting Clerk for verification. No Certificate of Occupancy will be issued until all contractors have been verified and all permit fees collected. Please see our forms page for copies of applications. Complete and return to us with payment and we will issue permits upon approval.
